Prior to launching Rhythm & Booze, "R. & M. Swaine" (the store's parent company) had run a small chain of supermarkets offering great deals on Alcohol. They therefore found that off licence sales of beer, wine, cider and spirits were becoming increasingly dominant within it's product mix.
Rhythm and Booze was initially conceived as a drinks supermarket set within a small store environment selling all the same great beers, wines, spirits and ciders are cheap prices with top promotions. The aim was to have a supermarket pricing standard and merchandising that was, quick, easy and convenient to use. This no nonsense, but no compromise approach proved to be an immediate, runaway success generating sales some four times greater than the previous operator.
Encouraged by the initial success of the Armthorpe branch in Barnsley the company decided to dispose of it's supermarket interests and develop the Rhythm & Booze retail group as it's core activity. At the same time, a delivery wholesale business was developed to generate higher volumes with suppliers to enable more competitive prices in the retail outlets.
By the Winter of 2002, we had 31 stores in big Cities such as Doncaster, Wakefield, Sheffield, Hull, and Goole and across North, East, South and West Yorkshire as well as North Lincolnshire and Humberside. And we now employ around 300 people.
Our stock range has increased significantly and we currently have an outstanding range of beers, wines, ciders and spirits from over 25 different countries.
